California Senator Tom Torlakson, Assemblymember Lois Wolk and former State Senator and Assemblymember Patrick Johnston endorse Barbara Sprenger for Assembly District 27


SANTA CRUZ, Calif., April 2, 2008 - California Senator Tom Torlakson, Assemblymember Lois Wolk and former State Senator and Assemblymember Patrick Johnston announced today that they have endorsed Barbara Sprenger for Assembly District 27, a seat currently held by John Laird, who terms out at the end of the current session.

 

Torlakson represents California's 7th Senate District, which includes most of Contra Costa County and is a candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Wolk represents the Eighth Assembly District, which spans Solano and Yolo Counties including the cities of Davis and West Sacramento. Johnston represented the Fifth State Senate District which encompasses portions of Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties. From 1981 through 1990, Johnston served in the State Assembly.

 

"It's an honor to be endorsed by three members of the State Legislature who have taken leading roles on issues of environmental protection, health care and environmental protection," Sprenger said.

 

Sprenger has already been endorsed by Congressional representatives Zoe Lofgren and Mike Honda, Assemblymembers Sally Lieber and Jim Beall, and former San Jose mayor Susan Hammer and hundreds of representatives of the of the health care, labor, environmental, education, social services, legal, safety and business communities.
