California Assembly Members Sally Lieber and Jim Beall, Jr. endorse Barbara Sprenger for Assembly District 27
SANTA CRUZ, Calif., February 28, 2008 – Assemblymembers Sally Lieber and Jim Beall, Jr. today announced they have endorsed Barbara Sprenger for Assembly District 27, a seat currently held by John Laird, who terms out at the end of the current session.
“Barbara has a common-sense perspective that we need in Sacramento,” said Lieber, who represents the 22nd Assembly District, which includes San Jose, Mountain View, Cupertino and Santa Clara. “She knows that to fix education, health care and our environment, we need to start with concrete, sensible steps. Her experience as a green business owner, community organizer and education leader will help in taking on the big challenges we face.”
“I’m supporting Barbara Sprenger because she is fighting for the things that will make a real difference in people’s lives—making college affordable, covering every uninsured Californian, making it easier for each of us to fight climate change,” said Beall, who represents the 24th Assembly District, which includes Saratoga, Campbell and San Jose. “I’m glad Barbara has the experience to see these problems and offer smart solutions.”
“I am deeply honored by the support of these outstanding legislators, and look forward to working with both of them on the challenges facing our state,” Sprenger said.
Sprenger has already been endorsed by Congressional representatives Zoe Lofgren and Mike Honda, former San Jose mayor Susan Hammer and more than 250 representatives of the of the health care, labor, environmental, education, social services, legal, safety and business communities.
